Question:

The total salary of two employees, A and B, in an organisation was ₹40,000. After increasing the salary of A by 9% and of B by 11%, the total salary of A and B becomes ₹44,100. What was the initial salary of A?

Options:

₹15,000

₹22,500

₹25,000

₹18,000

Correct Answer:

₹15,000

Explanation:

Sum of salary of A & B = 40000

After increment , New sum of salary of A & B = 44100

Overall percentage increment in salary =  \(\frac{Increment\; in \;salary}{Sum\; of\; original \;salary}\) × 100

=  \(\frac{4100}{40000}\) × 100

= 10.25%

Using Allegation Method,

ATQ ,

8R = 40000

1R = \(\frac{40000}{8}\)

= 5000

Initial salary of A = 3R =  3 × 5000 = 15000
