Question:

A rectangular piece of paper is 52 cm long and 18 cm wide. A cylinder is formed by rolling the paper along its breadth. Find the volume of the cylinder. [Taken $π =\frac{22}{7}$]

Options:

1870 cm3

2002 cm3

1030 cm3

1290 cm3

Correct Answer:

2002 cm3

Explanation:

We already know that,

Volume of Cylinder = π r2 h,

Circumference of a Circle = 2 π r

So,

= 22 = 2 π r

= 22 = 2 × \(\frac{22}{7}\) × r

= r = \(\frac{7}{2}\)

Now the volume of a Cylinder  = \(\frac{22}{7}\) × \(\frac{7}{2}\) × \(\frac{7}{2}\) × 52 = 2002 cm3
