Question:

The population of a city is 225000. If the annual birth rate and death rates are 4.5% and 2.5%, respectively, calculate the increase in the population of the city after 2 years.

Options:

9099

9090

9909

9009

Correct Answer:

9090

Explanation:

Net increment per year =  ( 4.5 -2.5)% = 2%

Population after 2 years = 225000 × \(\frac{102}{100}\) × \(\frac{102}{100}\)

 =  225000 × \(\frac{51}{50}\) × \(\frac{51}{50}\) = 234090

Now ,

Increment in population =  234090 - 225000

= 9090
