Question:

Find the approximate value of x from the given expression:\(\frac{\text {29.38 x 37.05}}{ x }\) + 7.25 = 100.5

Options:

10

12

13

14

Correct Answer:

12

Explanation:

In these types of questions where approximate value is asked, we can take a round figure i.e. 29.38 becomes 29 and 37.05 becomes 37. This is done to ease out the calculation part. (But make sure we know that as we have reduced the value of the numbers, thus the answer that comes will be less than the actual answer.)

Now, solving the equation as: \(\frac{\text {29 x 37}}{ x }\) + 7.25 = 100.5

\(\frac{\text {29 x 37}}{ x }\)  = 100.5 - 7.25

\(\frac{\text {29 x 37}}{ x }\)  = 93.25

\(\frac{\text {1073}}{ x }\)  = 93 (here we can take 93.25 as 93)

x = \(\frac{\text {1073}}{ 93 }\)

x = 11.53

As, we know that, we have reduced the numbers by points, the actual answer must be slightly less than the required answer, thus the actual answer will be nearest value of 11.53 i.e. 12 according to the question.
