Question:

If 4(z + 7) (2z - 1) = Az2 + Bz + C, then the value of A + B + C is:

Options:

28

32

74

81

Correct Answer:

32

Explanation:

4(z + 7)(2z – 1) = Az2 + Bz + C

Simplifying the left-hand side of the given equation,

4(z + 7)(2z – 1) = 8z+ 52z - 28

On comparing this expression with the right-hand side of the given equation,

A = 8, B = 52 and C = -28

 A + B + C =  8 + 52 - 28 = 32
