Question:

The table given below shows the sales of two companies in 5 years.

  Companies
Years A B
P 350 1150
Q 550 850
R 750 950
S 650 350
T 450 250

L1 = The difference between the total sales of A and B in all years.

L2 = The value of average sales of A in all years.

What is the value of (L1 : L2) ?

Options:

11 : 17

11 : 16

16 : 11

13 : 12

Correct Answer:

16 : 11

Explanation:

L1 = The difference between the total sales of A and B in all years

Total sale of A - Total sale of B

= (350+550+750+650+450) - (1150+850+950+350+250)

= 2750 - 3550

= - 800

= 800    ( difference of sale is always positive )

L2 = The value of average sales of A in all years

Average of sale of A = \(\frac{2750}{5}\)  = 550

Now , L1 : L2  =  800 : 550

= 16 : 11
